Small Telescopes
65When it comes to purchasing telescopes you’ve various types of telescope to choose from. If you’re purchasing telescope for your kids then you don’t need to purchase large size telescope as small telescopes will do the job. Small optical telescopes are also less expensive and are available in many departmental stores or online shops or TV channel shops.
Smaller telescopes are of refracting type and cost from 25$-100$. It has big lens at front and there is small eye-piece in the back forming egg-like shape for instrument. You’ll not be able to view much of celestial objects with these type of telescopes as they’ve range limitation and image quality issues. But for kids you can use it for terrestrial viewing and showing moon.
What you can view with small telescope ?
- Moon
- Close Planets
- Terrestrial objects
Small telescopes make it easy for you to view moon. Beginners in astronomy and kids are curious about moon and spots on moon. It’s very easy to view moon with the help of small telescope. You’ll be able to see many craters and the white spots on the moon. Small telescopes usually don’t have a mount so you need to keep yourself steady to view even the bigger objects like moon.
Other than moon you can even view planets like Venus, Saturn and some Jupiter’s moons. Viewing rings of saturn is nice experience for the kids or beginners. You won’t be able to see images clearly with high power setting on these telescopes so you need to use low power setting while using small telescopes.
Some small telescopes have one or two eyepiece, two are always better to use with small telescope. Make sure it has well aligned and intact mirror. You’ll not able to find good firm mounts for small telescopes so you need to buy mounts fromtelescope accessory shops.
You’ll find that celestial objects like star cluster, galazies and nebules are blurd in comparison to close objects. If you want to watch farther objects in the sky in that case you need to purchase a better telescope for yourself.
Why small telescopes ?
