How to Create LinkWheel using Web 2.0 Sites

Creating backlinks and generating traffic for each of your blog post or hub can be quite daunting task and many times you’ll feel it as pain in the brain. Linkwheel can help you get more backlinks and traffic to your hubs if you’re willing to spend some time. Like any other SEO strategy linkwheel also takes time to get attention from search engines but they give excellent returns of your effort. There are many ways to approach linkwheel building; some of the ways are explained in this hub and I expect you to do experiment with keyword research and social media to get better results for your site.

What is linkwheel?

Linkwheel is organized group of blogs or web2.0 properties with your site or article link at center. In short this is SEO strategy for raising the value of your site. Links from web 2.0 properties or blogs are arranged in such a way that they form a wheel. There are many complicated designs of linkwheel like some wheels have 5-6 or 9 blogs in a wheel while some have more than that. Some sites in linkwheel are at the center of another wheel and such complicated designs go on and on just to improve your value of your site.

Which sites to use for building linkwheel?

There are many high PR free blogging services available. Here is the short list of sites that you can use:

  • Blogger.com
  • tumblr.com
  • wordpress.com
  • quizilla.com
  • squidoo.com
  • livejournal.com
  • weebly.com
  • jimbo.com
  • spaces.live.com
  • hubpages.com
  • wetpaint.com

Adding a link

When you add link from web 2.0 property to center of you hub then make sure you add the keyword to which you want your site to rank high. For example if you want your main site to get linked for “Spirituality Guide” then make sure you add link like this:

<a href="http://yoursite.com">Anchor </a>

<a href="http://yoursite.com">Spirituality Guide</a>

What about content on blogs used in wheel?

Avoid duplicate content and spun or scraper content. If you decided to go that route then it’ll hurt your traffic on those blogs in the wheel and then hardly anyone will care for getting redirected to main site. You can rewrite article using human rewriter and post it on blog or you can spend some time posting like a human on those blogs. Avoid duplicate content if you value your readers and expect them to jump to your main site.

You need to write and publish content on these web 2.0 sites by taking long term approach. Write content on each site by keeping particular niche in mind then link out to relevant and broader sites in subwheel or another wheel that links to your main site.

Promoting Linkwheel

If you’ve created linkwheel it’s time to promote it so that it’ll help your primary site rank better on google and other search engine.

  • Take RSS feed of every site in your linkwheel and ping it using pingler.com or pingoat.com
  • Bookmark your websites in the linkwheel using socialmarker.com or onlywire.com
  • Find wordpress multiuser sites and submit article with links to your one of the site in the linkwheel
  • Promote your sites in social networks like facebook, orkut, friendster with help of feeds.
  • Promote your link wheel sites on relevant forums without spamming (use signature and forum profiles)

Simple Yet Effective Linkwheel Plan

Let’s create simple linkwheel using web 2.0 properties that points to your blog.

  • Pick 5 web 2.0 blogs for creating simple linkwheel, more complexity you want then add more blogs.
  • Keyword Research- Before you create web 2.0 properties do a little keyword research. Find the keyword which is related to your main site with more than 3000 searches. Pick 2-3 keywords per web 2.0 properties and build content around those keywords for each blog/web 2.0 property. Put your keywords on title, 1st paragraph or last paragraph or choose randomly. Bigger the blog post/article more keywords you can use.
  • Social Bookmark- After you finish creating content on each of the blog in the wheel then bookmark that article/post by using social bookmarking services. You can use social bookmarking automation software to speed things up.
  • Ping- Other than social bookmarking you can ping RSS directories and search engines. Use pingler.com, pingoat.com to ping your site after updating it.
  • Update- Whenever you create content on main site then make sure you update your wheel with new content as well. You need to get bakclinks to your web 2.0 properties as well so keep getting more backlinks to your wheel and main site.
  • Automating linkwheel process- You can automate this process by outsourcing linkwheel work to SEO firms or to the individuals who give service of linkwheels. Other than outsourcing you can also purchase softwares like SENuke and other linkwheel automation software to automate this job.

If you can't afford outsourcing or automation software/services then you can invest your time to build linkwheel. It'll be slow but it'll not be viewed like spam or autoblog linkwheel.

Find low competition keywords which are related to your main site and build web 2.0 blogs on them to create small-linkwheel. After building small linkwheel try to scale up and make more complex linkwheel which links to your main site. Remember you need to generate traffic for blogs in wheels as well in order to raise your main site. You need to learn how to scale up with keyword and backlinks and you’ll see the results.
